Charlotte, NC – October 1, 2014 – On September 23, 2014, the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte was awarded the 2014 Chamber of the Year in the Medium Size category at the 2014 U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte (LACCC) was one of three winning Hispanic chambers for outstanding service to local business members and communities. The award was presented to the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte for its successful work on building access to networks, leadership development and supplier diversity in the Charlotte region. LACCC President Astrid Chirinos states, “We are honored and excited that the impact of our accelerator platform has resonated beyond our region. We hope it can be replicated to advance the prosperity and success of our Latino business community in other states.”
Applicants from across the nation are judged on their accomplishments, leadership, service and commitment to the small business community. Winning chambers of commerce are recognized for their groundbreaking work to promote information, networks, and resources for continued growth of Latino businesses. Awardees are determined by an independent panel of USHCC board members and successful business owners from across the country. The Small, Medium and Large Chamber of the Year Awards honor accomplished Hispanic chambers of commerce that serve fewer than 249 members, between 250 and 499 members, and more than 500 members, respectively. LACCC Board Chairman Jorge De La Jara expressed his excitement regarding this prestigious award, “Our Board is committed to maximizing the impact of this platform for our members and is proud of the efforts of our President and team.”
This year’s USHCC National Convention hosted over 6,000 participants, making it officially the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in American history. USHCC President and CEO, Javier Palomarez, will be the keynote speaker at the LACCC 2014 Annual Meeting on November 19 that will be held at the Mint Museum-Uptown Charlotte.
